Donation Will Support Multiple Transformational Priorities in Pediatric Care and Research
BOSTON, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Boston Children’s Hospital today announced a historic gift of more than $200 million from the Boston Celtics ownership group and the Boston Celtics, in association with the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation.
The gift will have a sweeping impact, supporting multiple transformational priorities across Boston Children’s Hospital:
- Building the nation’s premier pediatric mental health facility and foster earlier interventions for kids in crisis.
- Fueling research into emerging therapies for childhood diseases and to uncover the origins of adult diseases.
- Supporting advanced training for pediatric nurses.
- Creating an innovation fund to support daring concepts that can transform children’s health.
- Expanding family-centered programs that foster healthy lifestyles in our communities.
“While the size of this gift is unprecedented for Boston Children’s Hospital, its significance will ultimately be measured not by the record it sets, but by the lives it will save,” said Dr. Kevin Churchwell, CEO, Boston Children’s Hospital.
“The Celtics have historically been defined by the concept that true legacy is more than what happens on the court,” said Bill Chisholm, Boston Celtics Chairman and Governor. “Boston Children’s and the Celtics share a belief that it takes every single one of us to achieve our most ambitious goals. This gift is our commitment to the next generation in Boston and far beyond. We all win when we invest in our children’s futures.”
“I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand the extraordinary work being done at Boston Children’s Hospital and the difference it makes for patients and families,” said Rob Hale, Boston Celtics Co-Owner. “Through this gift, the Celtics and Boston Children’s Hospital can help advance groundbreaking research, expand access to exceptional care, and create opportunities to improve the lives of children for years to come.”
“Families come to us in their most challenging moments, looking for answers for their kids,” said Dr. Churchwell. “This extraordinary generosity from the Boston Celtics will help us accelerate our work to serve children on an unprecedented scale. Together, we share an unwavering commitment to winning on behalf of children and families everywhere, and to building a future focused on what’s next.”
The Boston Celtics will continue celebrating Boston Children’s Hospital tomorrow night at their home game, with in-game moments throughout the evening recognizing current and former patients, families, staff and others with ties to the hospital.
