Dr. Shin earns his 4th straight Seattle Met Top Dentist nod plus a new 2026 Castle Connolly honor — rooted in his teaching and special-needs care background.
SEATTLE, WA, UNITED STATES, September 2, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Dr. Harry Shin, DDS, a general dentist and co-founder of Moritis & Shin Dentistry in downtown Seattle, has been named a 2026 Castle Connolly Top Dentist, a peer-nominated honor that arrives on top of his fourth consecutive year — 2023 through 2026 — on the Seattle Met Top Dentist list. It’s a rare pairing: two award programs, built on different methodologies, arriving at the same conclusion in the same year.
Castle Connolly’s list is built through a peer-nomination and physician-led screening process, drawing on how other clinicians assess a practitioner’s skill. Seattle Met’s list draws more heavily on reader input and local reputation. For a dentist to appear consistently across both, Dr. Shin says, points to something more durable than a single good year.
“One award can be a nice moment. Four years of it, from a completely different kind of list, tells you something is actually working — not just for one type of patient, but across the board,” Dr. Shin said.
A Background That Predates the Awards
Dr. Shin traces his approach back further than any single recognition. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University, graduating with honors, before completing a General Practice Residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the Bronx — a program known for exposing residents to complex medical and dental cases beyond a typical general practice. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan.
Two experiences from that period, Dr. Shin says, still shape how he practices today. While in New York, he treated patients with special needs, work that pushed him to slow down and adapt his communication style case by case. He also spent time as faculty at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, a role that required him to explain the reasoning behind every clinical decision clearly enough for a student to follow — a habit he says never left.
“Teaching forces you to justify every decision out loud. Treating patients who need extra patience forces you to actually listen,” Dr. Shin said. “Between the two, I ended up with a pretty different starting point than a lot of dentists.”
The Practice Behind the Pattern
At Moritis & Shin Dentistry, that background has translated into a practice built around patient education and prevention-first, minimally invasive care — an approach the team applies consistently rather than reserving for particular cases. Dr. Shin is also a Gold+ Invisalign Provider, reflecting a high volume of successfully completed Invisalign cases.
Sustained, cross-validated recognition of the kind Dr. Shin has received is relatively uncommon in a city with as many dental practices as Seattle. For patients comparing providers, the combination of a peer-reviewed credential (Castle Connolly) and a reader/reputation-driven one (Seattle Met) offers two independent signals rather than one.
“I’d rather patients trust the pattern than any single list,” Dr. Shin said. “Four years and two different kinds of recognition is harder to fake than one good year.”
